Physical Fitness Is Correlated with Quality of Life among Elderly Gymnastics Club from Haji General Hospital Surabaya, Indonesia

Background: Indonesia is the fourth most populated country, of whom 10.8% are elderly people. The quality life (QOL), which includes physical health, psychological social relationships, and environment, crucial as fitness may reflect ability to perform daily activities without significant fatigue. objective this study was explore correlation with QOL among elderly.Methods: This an analytic observational a cross-sectional approach, including members gymnastics club Haji General Hospital Surabaya. value measured based on VO2max using 6-minute walk test (6MWT). (0.03 x mileage(m) + 3.98 cc/kilogram body weight/minute) categorized into poor, moderate, good. assessed WHOQOL-100 grouped good QOL. Data were analyzed by Spearman test.Results: In total, 33 recruited, average age 67.85±6.11 years (range 60–78), mean height 1.49±0.09 m, weight 57.65±10.53 kg, BMI 24.92±3.69. 16.96±2.37, 64.61±6.82 mL/kg/minute. 6MWT resulted in poor (15%; n=5), moderate (36%; n12), (48%; n16). WHOQOL assessment showed (30%; n=10) (61%; n=23) results between (coefficient 0.356 p= 0.042).Conclusions: There elderly, suggesting that increasing adjusted their health condition, important get life.
